Welcome to Leaveners

Leaveners Community Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1994 to provide help and healing to  persons who are disabled, traumatized or seriously disadvantaged and to the organizations and persons who serve them. Grants, consulting, and staff support have been provided to agencies working with the homeless mentally ill and other at-risk groups as well as direct aid given to war victims. Work has been done holistically and on a "human scale" by a trained and dedicated volunteer staff.  Less than 5% of expenditures has gone to administrative expense during the years of our operation.  Leaveners  was granted tax-exempt status by the IRS in 1995.

Poster for Organization of War Invalids, Bihac, Bosnia

In the ensuing ten years, Leaveners has implemented or significantly aided projects ranging  from a community supported agriculture venture employing developmentally delayed adults to a major medical and rehabilitation aid project for war invalids in Bihac, Bosnia. Along the way, we have also given financial and hands-on assistance to many local social service agencies. Presently, we are building a holistic respite center for service and humanitarian workers in an old County Home in the Adirondack Park of New York.
Please take time to read about these projects--and about our goals and guiding principles--which are described in more detail under the headings to the left and below. Thank you!
